Background
We are looking to appoint our first director to establish the charity, implement the business plan and raise our profile. This is an exciting time for the charity and gives the opportunity for our first director to shape and develop Footesteps supported by a skilled and knowledgeable group of trustees. The post would ideally suit somebody wishing to move up to leading a charity or someone who has already done so and wishes to scale down their hours.

Key Role Purpose:
Footesteps is a newly formed charity providing a unique support service to night-time health and social care workers so that they feel valued, skilled and safe. We do this through bespoke training, education, road testing safety equipment, mentoring and physical protection measures.

Scope of the Role
To provide effective day to day management relating to all aspects of the Charity’s set up and operations.
To ensure the financial stability by identifying and securing appropriate funding that supports the values of the Charity
To work with other key partners to extend the scope of the services we offer to beneficiaries.
To clearly demonstrate and promote the positive impact of the Charity.
To service the Trustees by the provision of reports, minutes and papers to enable them to govern effectively.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
To manage the Charity according to the strategic direction provided by the Board of Trustees.
Have a key role in establishing the Charity and delivering objectives for Years 1-2.
To be responsible for planning and delivering a range of services and financial grants to support night time health and social care staff and the organisations they work for.
To actively seek paid membership of Footesteps from NHS, Social services, voluntary sector and private sector.
To undertake all aspects of business development including identification of funding opportunities, bid writing and tender submissions with support from the Trustees.
To work in partnership with external partners to promote awareness, identify beneficiaries and engage with the wider community.
To develop and manage initiatives, events and campaigns to increase engagement with health and social agencies that provide night time cover e.g. NHS, Social services, voluntary sector and private sector.
To increase engagement with night-time staff who work for NHS, Social services, voluntary sector and private sector.
To develop and maintain policies, procedure, guidelines and protocols in accordance with the Board’s strategic direction.

Experience of contract and performance management

Experience of developing and maintaining partnerships with statutory, voluntary and independent sector organisations
Understanding of the current health, safety and social issues affecting night workers
Proven customer service skills
Understanding of Health and Safety legislation
Understanding of data protection and confidentiality
Competent in the use of emails, internet, MS Office and social media platforms
